Organize your library
This page shows how to look at your library the way you like, group links, and change many of them at once.
Switch between grid, compact grid and list#
Three buttons in the toolbar switch the view: Grid, Compact grid (the default) and List. Koona Pin remembers your choice.
- Grid and Compact grid show a picture, the site and the title. A link without a picture shows the site’s name on its cover.
- List shows one row per bookmark: a small picture, title, site, tags, collection, heart and date.
When the list is sorted by date, bookmarks sit under headings such as Today, Yesterday, This week and Earlier.

Collections#
A collection is a folder-like group, and a bookmark is in one collection at most. Collections are listed under Collections in the sidebar, each with a colored dot and a count. Click one to see only its bookmarks.
Create a collection#
Click the + next to Collections in the sidebar, type a name and click Create collection. You can also make one from selected bookmarks: see Act on the selection.
To file one bookmark, open its card menu, choose Move to collection and pick one. No collection takes it out.
Reorder collections#
Drag a collection up or down in the sidebar and drop it where the line shows. With the keyboard, focus a collection and press Alt↑⌥↑ or Alt↓⌥↓. Until you move them, collections are sorted by name.
Delete a collection#
Point at a collection, click the × at its right edge and confirm with Delete. Its bookmarks stay in your library without a collection.
Tags#
Tags are short labels, and a bookmark can have many. The sidebar lists them under Tags, most used first, with + N more for the rest.
- To tag one bookmark, choose Edit… in its card menu and type in Tags. Press EnterReturn or a comma after each tag.
- To tag many, select them and use Tag, or drag them onto a tag in the sidebar.
- To see one tag’s bookmarks, click it in the sidebar or on a row. A chip such as #design appears under the toolbar; click it, or the tag again, to go back.
Favorites#
Click the heart on a card or row to add the bookmark to Favorites, or click it again to take it out. Favorites in the sidebar lists them all.
Notes#
Choose Edit… in the card menu and write in Note. Notes are searched, kept when you merge duplicates, and included in exports. The editor is described in Save links.
Sort order#
The sort button in the toolbar shows the current order. Choose Newest first (the default), Oldest first, Title A–Z or Site A–Z. The choice applies to every section and is remembered. Trash always shows the most recently deleted first, and Reading keeps its own order.
Select bookmarks#
Select first, then act. Selected bookmarks are highlighted, and the selection bar appears at the bottom.
With the mouse#
- Click a bookmark to select it alone.
- Ctrl⌘-click adds or removes one bookmark.
- Shift⇧-click adds everything from the last bookmark you clicked.
- Drag a frame around bookmarks from an empty spot. Hold Ctrl⌘ or Shift⇧ to add to the selection. The list scrolls when you drag near its edge.
- Click an empty spot to clear the selection.
Double-click a bookmark, or press EnterReturn, to open it. Whether it opens in reading mode or the browser depends on Open links in Settings.
With the keyboard#
| Keys | What they do |
|---|---|
| Arrow keys | Move the selection. In list view, ↑ and ↓ |
| Shift↓⇧↓ and the other arrows | Extend the selection |
| CtrlA⌘A | Select everything the list shows, also bookmarks further down |
| Esc | Clear the selection |
| Space | Read the last bookmark you clicked in a sheet over the list |
| R | Send the selection to Reading, or take it out when you are in Reading |
| Del⌫ | Move the selection to the Trash (on a Mac, Backspace⌫ too) |
The arrow keys work when the list has focus, not while you type in a field.
A search, a tag or a site filter only changes what the list shows: the selection stays, and the bar says how many selected bookmarks are hidden. Actions still include them. Opening another section clears the selection.
Act on the selection#
The bar at the bottom shows how many bookmarks are selected, then these buttons. Point at one to see its name and key.
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Read (Space) | Opens the reading sheet |
| Move to… | Files them in a collection |
| Tag | Adds a tag to all of them |
| Favorite | Adds them to Favorites; Remove from favorites when all are there |
| Send to Reading (R) | Sends them to Reading; Remove from Reading when you are in Reading |
| Refresh previews | Reads each page again for its picture, icon and site name |
| Export | HTML for browsers, JSON — full copy or CSV for spreadsheets with only these bookmarks, or Add to bundle for a shareable list |
| Trash (Del⌫) | Moves them to the Trash |
| Clear selection (Esc) | Clears the selection |
In the Move to… menu, the first nine collections have the keys 1 to 9, and No collection takes the bookmarks out of theirs. New collection from selection… opens a name field under Collections with a suggested name: press EnterReturn to create the collection and move the bookmarks, or Esc to cancel.
Each action shows a note with Undo. In the Trash, the bar offers Restore, Export and Delete forever… instead (see Trash).
Drag and drop#
Press on a selected bookmark and drag. A stack of cards follows the pointer, with a label such as “Move 3 to “Design””. Release it over the sidebar:
- a collection moves them into it,
- a tag adds that tag,
- Favorites adds them to Favorites,
- Reading sends them to Reading,
- Trash moves them to the Trash,
- the dashed New collection from selection row creates a collection from them.
Hold the pointer over a folded sidebar heading and it opens. Esc cancels the drag. You can also drag bookmarks, collections and tags onto the bundle: see Shareable lists.
The card menu#
Click the ⋯ on a card, or right-click a card or row, to open its menu. While it is open, press the key shown next to an item to choose it.
| Item | Key |
|---|---|
| Open in browser | EnterReturn |
| Copy link | CtrlC⌘C |
| Edit… | E |
| Add to favorites or Remove from favorites | F |
| Send to Reading or Remove from Reading | R |
| Save for offline or Remove offline copy | O |
| Move to collection, with the collections numbered 1 to 9 | → opens it |
| Refresh preview | |
| Move to trash | Del⌫ |
Bookmarks in Reading also get Mark as read or Mark as unread. In the Trash, the menu has Restore, Open in browser, Copy link and Delete forever….
Undo a change#
Press CtrlZ⌘Z, or click Undo in the note, to take back your last change: a move, a tag, a favorite, a trash or a restore. Press it again to go further back. Koona Pin remembers your last 100 changes until you quit the app.
CtrlZ⌘Z waits while a dialog, a menu or the editor is open, and in a text field it undoes your typing. A change can’t be undone if the bookmark has changed since. Deleting for good and restoring a backup can’t be undone at all. Every key in the app is in Keyboard shortcuts.
