Download Koona Pin

Windows
Windows 11, 64-bitno administrator rights needed
Windows may say it protected your PC: the app is new and still building reputation. Choose More info → Run anyway.
macOS
Apple SiliconmacOS 15 or later
Install on macOS
- Open the downloaded file and drag Koona Pin to Applications.
- Open Koona Pin from Applications. It is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any other app.
- For Safari, the extension is already inside: open Safari → Settings → Extensions, turn on Koona Pin and allow it on websites.
Koona Pin updates itself on a Mac from version 1.2.2: it asks before installing and starts again in the new version. An earlier version doesn't: download this one once and drag it to Applications; your library stays.

Good to know
- Koona Pin updates itself: it asks before installing, and the system asks for your password.
- GNOME without the AppIndicator extension shows no tray icon. Koona Pin keeps running; open it from the app menu.
- Firefox from Snap asks once to let the extension talk to Koona Pin.
- Browsers installed from Flatpak can't save to Koona Pin yet.
- Removing the package keeps your library in
~/.local/share/Koona/Pin. - The AppImage sets itself up for your browsers and the session at every start, wherever you keep the file. To remove it, delete the file and
~/.local/share/Koona/Pin/host; the library stays.
Browser extension
Chrome or Edge 120+, Firefox 140+ or ESR 140, Safari 18.4+
Add it after the app. Its button saves the page you are on, and it talks only to Koona Pin on this computer.
Safari's extension comes with Koona Pin for Mac: there is nothing else to install. After you open the app, turn it on in Safari → Settings → Extensions and allow it on websites.
Check the download
Each file's SHA-256 checksum is in SHA256SUMS.txt next to it. The app checks updates itself (on a Mac from 1.2.2) and installs only files signed by Koona.
sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS.txt --ignore-missing
On macOS:
shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt --ignore-missing
What the app connects to
Your library stays on your computer. The app reads the title and preview of each link you save from that link's website, asks Google's favicon service for missing icons, and asks koona.app once a day whether a new version is out. With Supporter it also asks the Koona server about your plan, now and then. Nothing about your library is sent. Details are in the privacy policy.
